This cruciform ring brooch of four linked crescents is a copy of a Medieval silver brooch from a Dutch collection, sold at auction in England in 2020.
the original was dated 13th-15th C., weighed 4.2 grammes and is 30mm across.
This Pewter copy has a steel pin, and a cast in place steel pintle for the pin to hinge on. This is a feature found in a number of medieval pewter belt buckles, and is a handy way of adding strength to a piece.
Wt. 3.7g, the pin is 30 mm long.
The original, shown last, has stretched slightly along the axis of the pin, over time.
